Media Buyer Resume Example and Template: Evidence-Led CV

A fill-in resume structure with annotated bullets, evidence rules, and junior and experienced variants—without invented spend, revenue, or platform claims.

This page is a template-led companion to the broader resume strategy guide. Use it to draft a one- or two-page media buyer CV with verifiable evidence. Replace every bracketed field; delete sections you cannot support. Never invent spend, ROAS, clients, platform access, team size, or dates.

The evidence rule

Every strong bullet answers four questions: what context did you own, what decision or action did you take, what observable outcome followed, and what boundary makes the claim honest?

Formula:

Action + scope + method + outcome + qualification

Example with fictional values for structure only:

Reorganized [channel] creative tests across [number] message families, introduced a [review cadence], and reduced median time from brief to decision from [baseline] to [result] during [period]; measurement excludes [known limitation].

The qualification does not weaken the bullet. It demonstrates measurement literacy.

Copyable resume skeleton

Header

[Full name]
Media Buyer | [Primary channel] | [Relevant product or model]
[City/time zone or remote availability] · [professional email] · [portfolio URL] · [professional profile]

Do not include a photograph, age, marital status, full home address, identity number, or unrelated personal data unless a specific lawful local process genuinely requires it.

Professional summary

Media buyer with [experience context] in [channels/products]. I design controlled acquisition tests, connect [optimization events] to [downstream value], and work with [creative/analytics/product] to improve [relevant objective]. Recent scope includes [truthful scale or complexity]. Seeking [specific next scope].

Keep this to three or four lines. “Results-driven ninja” communicates no evidence.

Core capabilities

Choose 8–12 capabilities you can discuss:

  • campaign and experiment design;
  • [Meta Ads / Google Ads / TikTok Ads / other actual channel];
  • creative briefing and taxonomy;
  • conversion tracking and QA;
  • attribution and reconciliation;
  • funnel and cohort analysis;
  • pacing, forecasting, and budget controls;
  • landing-page collaboration;
  • reporting and stakeholder communication;
  • platform policy and launch review.

Use the job's language only when it accurately describes your work. Do not list every platform in the vacancy.

Experience entry

[Role] — [Employer or “Confidential employer” where necessary]
[Month Year]–[Month Year or Present] · [Location/remote]

One-line scope:

Owned [channel/market/product] acquisition within [scope], partnering with [functions] and reporting against [business event].

Evidence bullets:

  • Designed [number] controlled tests around [audience/message/offer], using [method] to decide [stop/iterate/scale]; [observable outcome].
  • Diagnosed [funnel problem] by reconciling [sources], identified [supported issue], and coordinated [action]; [outcome and time frame].
  • Built [creative/QA/reporting process] that changed [cycle time/error rate/coverage] from [baseline] to [result], measured by [source].
  • Managed [truthful budget range or omit] with [loss limits/pacing/approval], maintaining [relevant guardrail] during [context].
  • Presented [decision] to [stakeholders], securing [specific action or resource] and documenting [review condition].

Selected case studies

Link two or three cases, each with a one-line decision:

  • [Case title]: [problem], [your decision], [what the reader will see].
  • [Case title]: [measurement or creative system], [scope], [evidence].

Education and relevant training

List degree or relevant structured training concisely. A platform certification should include issuer and completion or expiry date. Do not let courses take more space than applied work.

Languages and work authorization

Include languages with a realistic working level and only the location or authorization information needed for the role.

Annotated weak and strong bullets

Generic responsibility

Weak: “Managed paid social campaigns.”

Stronger: “Owned weekly paid-social testing for [product/market], maintaining launch QA and a decision log across [number] creative hypotheses.”

Why it works: scope and operating method are visible even without sensitive numbers.

Unsubstantiated success

Weak: “Scaled profitably and achieved amazing ROAS.”

Stronger: “Expanded [campaign/audience] through [number] staged budget reviews after qualified CPA remained inside the agreed range; rolled back one segment when [guardrail] failed.”

Why it works: it shows a scaling decision and risk control without a vague superlative.

Tool list

Weak: “Meta, TikTok, Google, GA4, Excel, trackers.”

Stronger: “Validated campaign-to-CRM event flow across [actual systems], documenting currency, status, and attribution differences for weekly reconciliation.”

Why it works: tools support a real capability.

Junior resume variant

When paid-media employment is limited, lead with relevant projects and transferable evidence, not an inflated title.

Summary:

Entry-level media buyer with applied practice in [channel], campaign QA, metric calculation, and creative test design. Portfolio contains a clearly simulated funnel case and an original creative-testing plan. Previous [analytics/sales/design] experience contributes [specific transferable capability].

Project bullet examples:

  • Built a simulated acquisition plan for [public lawful product], defining conversion, guardrails, tracking QA, and decisions for three possible outcomes.
  • Audited [public landing experience] for message and event consistency; documented [number] testable hypotheses without claiming live results.
  • Analyzed a provided anonymized dataset, calculated [metrics], identified [pattern], and stated two alternative explanations.

Label simulation. Do not present estimated results as achieved results.

Confidential performance

You can show credibility without exposing exact economics:

  • use ranges approved by the employer;
  • report relative change with baseline period and method;
  • describe process outcomes such as cycle time or error reduction;
  • anonymize product and market;
  • show the decision framework and guardrail;
  • state “figures withheld under confidentiality” only where necessary.

Avoid combining several masked claims so precisely that the client can be inferred.

Tailoring checklist

Before applying:

  1. Highlight the role's three genuine decision areas.
  2. Place matching evidence in the top half of page one.
  3. Remove tools and verticals you cannot defend in an interview.
  4. Mirror standard terminology naturally, not repeated keywords.
  5. Check that dates, titles, and links agree with public profiles.
  6. Open every portfolio link in a private browser.
  7. Export a selectable-text PDF and keep a simple filename.
  8. Proofread metrics, currency, decimal separators, and tense.

Self-review scorecard

Score each experience entry from zero to two on scope, action, evidence, decision, and honesty of limitations. A bullet with responsibilities but no decision scores low; a bullet with a giant percentage and no source also scores low.

Ask a reviewer to answer: What did this person own? How did they think? What can be verified? Which claim would you probe? Revise until the answers are clear.

Example of tailoring one experience

Assume a role emphasizes measurement and creative collaboration. Do not rewrite your title or insert every keyword. Reorder truthful evidence: place the campaign-to-CRM reconciliation bullet first, follow with the creative-test process, then show budget control. In the summary, name those two capabilities and the actual channel.

For a role emphasizing high-volume execution, lead instead with scope, QA reliability, pacing, and handover—while preserving downstream quality evidence. Tailoring changes relevance and order; it does not change history.

Keep a master evidence inventory with source, permitted level of disclosure, and a link to the deeper case. Build each application from that inventory so numbers and dates remain consistent across the resume, portfolio, interview, and public profile.

Keep the resume and portfolio different

The resume is an index of evidence. The portfolio is where reasoning, charts, alternatives, and artifacts live. Do not shrink an entire case into a six-line bullet or make the reader open a 40-page deck to learn your channel.

Use the media buyer portfolio example to build the linked proof. For deeper positioning, section order, and application strategy, consult the main media buyer resume guide. This template intentionally focuses on drafting and annotation so the two pages serve different intents.
